The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra

  • © Naxos Audiovisual Division

Benjamin Britten takes you on an epic tour of the instruments of the orchestra, with some of the catchiest and most charming music ever composed. At the concert hall of Snape Maltings, a venue close to Aldeburgh in Suffolk where Benjamin Britten lived, Marin Alsop conducts the Britten-Pears Orchestra, formed by young and exceptional musicians from all over the world. Besides the purely musical performance, an alternative version including the usually omitted narration is available as well: Marin Alsop gives short introductions to the instruments and the instrumental groups of the orchestra.
