The Dresden Festival Orchestra under its chief conductor Ivor Bolton celebrated the reopening of the Kulturpalast with a special concert. The creative power of this orchestra specialized in historical performance practice filled the new musical center of the city with Weber's overture to the popular opera Der Freischütz and Robert Schumann's Fourth Symphony – two composers who largely influenced Dresden as a musical city. Beethoven's virtuoso Triple Concerto with Nicola Benedetti, Jan Vogler and Alexander Melnikov as the soloists rounded up this programme.
