Antonin Dvorak – Moravian Duets

  • © Jan Houda

Dvorak started to compose Moravian Duets at the initiative of a merchant, nationalist and patron from Prague, Jan Neff, in whose family Dvorak used to work from 1873 as a piano teacher. Moravian Duets represent one of Dvorak's most original music expressions. It plays an extraordinary role in the context of his artistic career, as the success of Moravian Duets was a stepping stone for the composer's international popularity. The shooting took place at Villa Amerika where the Antonin Dvorak Museum is situated. The recording includes the sound of an authentic piano from Dvorak's estate.
