Bach: St Matthew Passion – Gaechinger Cantorey, Rademann

  • St Matthew Passion © Internationale Bachakademie / Holger Schneider

In 2017, Hans-Christoph Rademann and the Gaechinger Cantorey took on Bach’s St Matthew Passion and offered new dimensions to the musical drama. This exceptional performance impressively documents the new sound and superb manner of playing on historical instruments, which Rademann was able to hone in masterfully with the Gaechinger Cantorey over just one year. The musicians were joined by 100 students from Stuttgart schools, choreographed by Palucca pupil Friederike Rademann, which added a scenic dimension to the music on stage. The interplay of professional musicians and young amateurs turned into a creative bridge for all involved.
