Rising star conductor Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla returns with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to the Royal Albert Hall to explore the theme of political and artistic freedom with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3 and his Fifth Symphony. The brilliant and fierce solo part of Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D major is interpreted by none other than the Canadian violin virtuoso Leila Josefowicz. The night’s programme is completed by a world premiere: Canada, the new work by maverick composer Gerald Barry, is being interpreted here by the English tenor Allan Clayton. “Irresistible!” (The Guardian)
