In the late 1960s, British groups played a decisive role in hard rock’s emergence: Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest and Led Zeppelin marked their era with the ubiquity of the guitar and the distortion of sound. After the last Black Sabbath concerts in February, it was the turn of Deep Purple – formed in 1968! – to bid farewell during a last major summer tour. Smoke on the Water, one last time... Among the stages of this final tour – likely to last for the success of their last album, Infinite – Ian Gillan's band was a Hellfest 2017 headliner.
