Dvorak: A Gala Concert – Gewandhausorchester, Nelsons, Opolais

Andris Nelsons’ heart, esprit and expertise are consolidated by an almost overwhelmingly youthful musical enthusiasm. In February 2018, the sympathetic conductor takes over as the new music director of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. In May 2017, together with his wife, the celebrated soprano Kristine Opolais, Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester focused on Dvorak, whose sound cosmos lies close to Nelsons’ heart. The exciting programme opened with the Othello overture and was followed by extracts from Dvorak’s opera Rusalka where Nelsons’ spouse Opolais took over the arias of the title role. The highlight of the concert was Dvorak’s Ninth (From The New World).
