The ECHO KLASSIK has established itself as one of the most important awards in the world of classical music. In 2017, the prestigious award ceremony was broadcast on ZDF for the 22nd time. Among the winners that performed live at the new Elbphilharmonie Hamburg were stars like Jonas Kaufmann, Joyce Di Donato, Daniel Hope and Maurizio Pollini. Popular presenters such as internationally renowned actors Katja Riemann and Sebastian Koch supported the host Thomas Gottschalk. The ECHO KLASSIK gala is one of the best rated classical music programmes on German TV.
