Ghosts

  • Ghosts © Erik Berg

How many lies can a person tolerate? This is the question asked by Henrik Ibsen’s drama Ghosts, which has been transformed into a ballet by theatre director Marit Moum Aune and choreographer Cina Espejord in a new production by the Norwegian National Ballet. Oswald Alving returns from a bohemian existence in Paris to a small-town life on a Norwegian fjord. A newly-built orphanage is to be dedicated to his father’s memory, ten years after his death. Mrs Alving welcomes her long-awaited son home, but gradually uncovers the secrets that weigh heavily upon the family. In Ghosts, figures of the past and present dance rise up side by side.
