Gounod: Roméo Et Juliette
It is Shakespeare’s famous story of two star-crossed lovers that fuels Charles Gounod’s opera Roméo et Juliette which is brought to life by a star-studded cast at the Wiener Staatsoper. Juan Diego Flórez and Aida Garifullina shine in the roles of Romeo and Julia. The “perfect couple à la Hollywood” is conducted by superstar Plácido Domingo, who “breathes and suffers with the lovers” (Kurier). He animates the orchestra to “passion, warmth and fervour, but also to light-footed liveliness.” (Der Standard) “Under ongoing cheering the audience called its darlings back on stage over and over again.” (Die Presse)
