Ivo Pogorelic At Shoryaku-ji Temple

  • © Malcolm Crowthers

After giving his debut recital at the Carnegie Hall in 1981, Ivo Pogorelic went on to perform as one of the world’s most popular and competent pianists but began to limit his activities in the mid-1990s. He resumed recording in 2016 for the first time in 21 years. In 2017, he visited Nara, Japan’s ancient capital which he loves. The programme captures the culmination of the returned genius’ art at Shoryakuji, a mountain temple renowned for its garden, in beautiful 4K resolution. The programme also contains an interview with the artist who shares his current thoughts on his return to the stage following a hiatus.
