Janacek: The Cunning Little Vixen

The Cunning Little Vixen was Moravian composer Leos Janacek’s seventh opera. It is based on a serial story by author Rudolf Tesnohlidek. In the opera, Janacek tells a story about the eternal cycle of nature, of loving, living and dying. He takes a melancholy look at the past, yet overall keeps the mood light-hearted and bright. With this production, Otto Schenk returned to the Wiener Staatsoper as director after more than 25 years. “The music is made for Tomas Netopil on the rostrum of the Wiener Staatsoper’s orchestra who perform it finely nuanced and with dazzling intensity.” (Kurier)
