Kronos Quartet

  • Kronos Quartet © Jay Blakesberg

San Fransisco based Kronos Quartet has had a great impact on modern string music for over four decades and all over the world. They have played with David Bowie, Tom Waits and Nine Inch Nails, and have cooperated with minimalistic icons and composers like Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Philip Glass. In the project Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire they ask 50 young talented composers to write fabulous pieces for them, and in this concert from Uppsala they play a few of those. Of course, they also perform Terry Riley and the already legendary piece Black Angels written by George Crumb.
