Le Ballet Royal De La Nuit

  • © Philippe Delval

Acrobats, jugglers, singers and musicians: Le Ballet Royal de la Nuit is an enchanting and complete show which places great emphasis on the supernatural. This new production of the Théâtre de Caen convenes monsters and witches, mermaids and princes, in a great colourful baroque party. Ordered by Mazarin after the Fronde to reinstate the power of the king, Le Ballet Royal de la Nuit made young Louis XIV the Sun King. Sébastien Daucé patiently reconstructed the score of this exceptional performance which has never been staged again since its creation in 1653.
