Lepage In The Sun

  • Lepage au Soleil at Minnewanka in August 2016 © Hélène Choquette

The documentary follows Robert Lepage as he embarks on a creative journey with the actors of the legendary theatre company Le Théâtre du Soleil de Paris. For the first time, these two titans of the stage will unite to create Kanata, an original work of theatre devoted to the history of Canada’s First Nations. As the months pass, the actors who come from eleven different countries, will discover that First Nations’ history is not so far from their own. The documentary shows how Robert Lepage, inspired by the cosmopolitan nature of the group and the current sociopolitical atmosphere, was able to weave universal themes into his creation.
