Yoshi Oida, who studied with Peter Brook and is active in theaters in Europe, has directed an opera in his home country Japan for the first time. He eloquently depicted the tragic love story of Madam Butterfly through elaborate dramatic interpretation and a stage filled with beautiful colours. Japanese soprano Akiko Nakajima, who formerly was under exclusive contract at Vienna Volksoper, performs the title role.
