The Moscow premiere took place in the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre. The performance is a laureate of the Golden Mask, the Russian National Theatre award 2016 in two categories: Best director – Alexander Titel and Best female performer – Hibla Gerzmava. Cherubini’s Medea experienced a second birth in the mid-20th century thanks to Maria Callas. Her performance of the part of Medea has become an opera legend, and since then, special qualifications have been required of performers of the title role. Time to meet Hibla Gerzmava, a charismatic diva who belongs to the troupe of the Moscow theatre.
