Nabucco – Live From Arena Di Verona
The Arena di Verona is one of the most impressive open-air venues for opera productions. In his new and much acclaimed staging of Verdi’s Nabucco, French director Arnaud Bernard uses all the Arena’s possibilities to create a larger-than-life experience, from overwhelming sceneries to horses riding across the stage. By transferring the original conflict between Hebrews and Babylonians from Jerusalem into the Milano of the times when Italians fought against the Austrian occupation, he emphasizes the importance of this opera for the Italian Risorgimento – with Va, pensiero ever since playing the role of the secret national anthem.
