Italian Filippo Neviani, who has made his career as a pop star under the stage name Nek, has the makings of a Grammy winner. He developed a unique style that is totally different from the music of other well-known cantautori: Nek seeks out the urbane, the cultural diversity in his songs. This is apparent in his first major hit, Laura non c’è, with which he took part at the Sanremo Festival and shot to the top of the charts. To date, he has scored no less than 21 Number-one hits in Italy and Spain – most recently with the earworm Freud.
