New European Songbook

Seven countries – one idea: The focus of the cultural initiative New European Songbook launched by the ORF, in cooperation with the EBU and the BBC, lies on integration and cultural exchange. The participating broadcasters from France, Germany, England, Scotland, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria brought together musicians from the respective country with musicians with an immigration background to work out a song together. The seven reinterpretations of classical music, jazz, world music and pop have been combined as musical-cinematic works of art in the documentary New European Songbook and are proof of the unique variety of Europe. The Austrian contribution was performed by the Syrian band Basalt and Austrian Songcontest winner Conchita.
