Orchestra Della Svizzera Italiana, Markus Poschner, Mischa Maisky – Dvorak’s Cello Concerto
The Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, conducted by Markus Poschner, accompanies Mischa Maisky playing Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor op. 104. It has to be remembered that Dvorak’s op. 104 is one of the most important compositions in the cello repertoire. The first performance of the Concerto took place in London on 19 March 1896 and was organised by the Philharmonic Society and conducted by the composer himself; the solo part was performed by the English cellist, Leo Stern, whose spiritual strength is channelled here by a matchless Maisky.
