Orchestra Della Svizzera Italiana, Markus Poschner, Paul Lewis – Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1
Comparison with a genius like Brahms is always a challenge, even for a great pianist like Paul Lewis. His reserved, somewhat British approach makes an extraordinary piece such as Brahms Concerto No. 1 even more enthralling. The piece is reinterpreted by the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and Markus Poschner in line with Poschner’s approach to Brahms’s repertoire. Lewis works hard to get the best out of a piano composition which is seemingly not a virtuoso piece, elegantly combining it with the dense, rich orchestral plot.
