Springtime In Vienna

  • Philippe Jordan and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra © ORF / Thomas Jantzen

For over 40 years the traditional Easter concert of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Springtime in Vienna, has been setting the tone for the coming season. In 2017, the concert went on a musical excursion to Paris and New York. The programme features two legends of American music: Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. Bernstein's Candide Overture opens the concert, followed by Gerwshin's jazzy Piano Concerto in F. With the symphonic poem An American in Paris, the journey continues across the Atlantic in the city of love, before Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from the West Side Story conclude the concert.
