Synaesthesia

  • Synaesthesia – Clara Sverner and Muti Randolph © Visom Digital / Carlos de Andrade

Synaesthesia is the ability to relate a specific sensorial stimulus to a different sensation, for instance, seeing an image or colour while hearing a sound. Scriabin was said to be a synaesthete and, like several contemporary compositions, his music will be translated into colours and lights in this show. In Synaesthesia, Brazilian pianist Clara Sverner and light designer Muti Randolph join forces, interpreting works by Debussy, Ginastera, Villa-Lobos, Stravinsky, Stockhausen, Webern, Schoenberg, Scriabin and Glauco Velazques.
