The Inner Film – Francesco Piemontesi Plays Chopin's Barcarolle (Pilote)
We film a musician – pianist, singer, violonist, conductor – performing a piece of about eight minutes. We meet again. The musician sits in an arm chair, with headphones, eyes closed, and listens to his recording. In his imagination he/she re-performs what he/she did, in almost a state of trance. And he or she tells us what he/she sees and feels in this moment. No analysis: an unfiltered stream of consciousness. The two layers are being cut together. We obtain a ten minute short that opens a window to the musician’s secret soundtrack. (Pilot for a 12-part series)
