As much as it may seem difficult to penetrate The National’s universe, getting out once you’ve had a taste of it is even harder. Folk, rock, pop? What may seem simple on the face of it, quickly turns out to be complex and well-rounded, dyed by Matt Berninger’s spleen, singer and leader of the band. In 2001, their very promising first album, both intimate and elegant, allowed them to differ from other artists and to seduce connoisseurs. They unveil at the Cork Opera House their last impetuous creations from their album Sleep Well Beast.
