Toulouse Capitole National Orchestra – Tugan Sokhiev Conducts Haydn And Shostakovich With Alison Balsom

  • Alison Balsom © Hugh Carswell / Warner Classics

To anyone who thinks the trumpet and a trumpeter career is only a man affair, Alison Balsom proves them wrong with musicality and charm. She brilliantly opens the homecoming concert of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse with her famous piece, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. The contrasted program goes on with Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7, Leningrad, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev. It is a wide and strongly narrative piece that has played a great part in the success of its composer across the Occident.
