Valser

  • © David Herrero

Valser is an ode to tango. Catherine Berbessou stages classical dancers in a very contemporary setting by planting her tango in a world of arenas and battles on a clay-covered stage. Four men and four women seek and confront each other, and meet the time of a milonga. "The idea is to make things waltz and tumble." Directed by Kader Belarbi – former principal dancer at the Paris Opera Ballet, the ballet of the Capitole of Toulouse magnificently interprets this dance combining sensuality and a certain violence by playing on both the power and fragility of the body.
