Verbier Festival 2017: Sergei Babayan Performs Mozart And Bach
Sergey Babayan's versatile and dazzling technique has been associated with the romantic and Russian repertoire. With Mozart’s C major concerto, Babayan shows his ability to dialogue with the individual instruments of the orchestra as well as act as chamber musician, blending with the ensemble. The mood changes to darker tones with Bach's D minor concerto. It uses a very different keyboard technique, derived from the harpsichord but also from the fact that the work is likely to have been a transcription of an earlier piece for the violin.
