Wanted – Dagmar Peckova Sings Kurt Weill Songs

  • © Michal Novotny

Dagmar Peckova chose popular but less known songs from Weill's repertoire. Compositions criticising the society are as valid nowadays as they were before. Surabaya Johnny is about women and love – the story which doesn't always end happily. The mood is improved by Zuhälterballade, melancholic Youkali is shifted by Pirate Jenny... And we can't miss the hit of the night – the Ballad of Mack the Knife. The concert is staged as a cabaret with all attributes. Costumes, lights, scenic design... The Caban brothers' direction plays a role that is as important as the accompanying by the orchestra and the jazz section guests.
