40 Hours – Brahms’s Last Journey

  • © C. Brasch / rework: Lena Kupatz

When the 63-year-old Johannes Brahms is handed a letter in the Austrian mountains, he can already guess the message it brings: Clara Schumann, the love of his life, has died. He sets off head over heels. The forty-hour journey to the grave of his one true love provides the cinematographic framework within which the director Lena Kupatz sheds new light on the life and the music of Johannes Brahms.
