  • © NHK – Japan Broadcasting Corporation

This is the second in the series titled The World’s Finest Orchestras presented on 8K-HDR and 22.2 surround sound. The recording was made over two nights and captures the concerts of the final season of Sir Simon Rattle, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Berliner Philharmoniker then. The concerts were held at the Philharmonie concert hall, the orchestra’s home in Berlin. The concerts featured a world premiere of pieces by Hans Abrahamsen commissioned by the Berliner Philharmoniker and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9 with the completed version of the fourth movement by Samale-Phillips-Cohrs-Mazzuca – captured in high-resolution images and highly-realistic acoustics.
