Dance Performance: Mara's Land

The most anticipated event of the XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebration was the great dance performance Mara's Land. Approximately 17,000 dancers in the Daugava Stadium tell the rich history of Latvia through music, energy, movement, rhythm, colour, and patterns of folk dance steps, from the gathering of Baltic tribes on the banks of the Daugava and the first mention of the red-white-red flag to Latvia’s Centenary celebration. In the centre of each of the four history-related parts of the production are motives from the most unique Latvian tradition – the Song Celebration.
