She is the “mother of Fluxus” and was Stockhausen’s muse. In her penthouse in the Lintgasse in Cologne back in the 1960s, she and artists and musicians such as John Cage, Joseph Beuys and Nam June Paik who gathered there regularly, wrote several chapters of art history. Today, at 84, Mary Bauermeister is far from retirement. Day in and day out, from early morning until late at night, this extraordinary artist continues to work in her studio near Cologne. It is a magical location and the setting for the first feature-length documentary film about Mary Bauermeister and her remarkable biography.
