Alan Gilbert Conducts Beethoven

When Alan Gilbert takes up his position as its new principal conductor, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra marks the occasion with a special concert. In anticipation of the Beethoven anniversary year 2020, works by Beethoven are combined here with contemporary pieces by Jörg Widmann and Enno Poppe. In Poppe's Violin Concerto, which was specially commissioned by the Beethoven Festival in Bonn and the NDR to mark the Beethoven anniversary year, Carolin Widmann plays the solo part.
