An Orchestra Is Born

  • © Carnegie Hall / Overtone Films

Every December, about 65 young musicians aged 16 – 23 arrive in Manhattan from around the USA and the world. They have been selected to participate in an extraordinary adventure – creating lifelong friendships, playing with legendary musicians, and performing two sold-out holiday concerts at Carnegie Hall. This is the story of the New York String Orchestra Seminar, founded by Alexander Schneider and now in its 50th year – told through vérité footage, interviews and performances by Joshua Bell, Yefim Bronfman, Jaime Laredo and others.
