Charlie Parker – Bird With Strings Revisited

  • © Oléo Films

For the young producer Norman Granz, Charlie Parker's signature on the Mercury label was a real success. The project Charlie Parker With Strings was an old dream the saxophonist realized in 1949. With an oboe, a few violins, a viola, a cello, a harp, a piano, a double bass and drums, he gave a new sound to the classics of the 1930s such as Just Friends and April In Paris. Jazz at the Philharmonie celebrates this superb encounter by bringing together some of the most talented saxophonists on new arrangements by Christophe Dal Sasso.
