Monteverdi: La Favola D'Orfeo

  • Antonio Abete, Valerio Contaldo © Luigi de Frenza

Iván Fischer conducts and stages Monteverdi’s Orfeo with additional music in the last act, arranged by the conductor himself. Emőke Baráth, Valerio Contaldo and Nurial Rial perform in one of the most beautiful operas ever written, accompanied by the Budapest Festival Orchestra. The opera itself relates very strongly to the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza as the theatre was built in 1585, a few years before L’Orfeo has first been performed in Mantova. According to Iván Fischer "it is the perfect opera for the perfect theatre." (Cat. no.: A 000 50069)
