Shion Monogatari – Asters

This is a newly written opera by composer Akira Nishimura. The protagonist is Muneyori, who, despite being born to a noble family that has produced exquisite poetry, becomes obsessed with the magic spell of the bow and arrow that take the lives of living things. He kills people and plants the flower Aster that is given the code “I won’t forget you”. It is a fantastical story that depicts the life of an artist and the world where desires swirl around. World premiere conducted by Kazushi Ono, and directed by Yoshi Oida, who is active in Europe as a director of opera.
