Verdi: Nabucco – Opernhaus Zürich

"Va pensiero sull’ali dorate" – the famous prisoners’ chorus is considered the centerpiece of the entire Nabucco opera. With this work, Verdi found the way to his own dramatic and musical style that is characterized by expansive lines and explosive rhythms. Michael Volle stars in his debut of the title role of Verdi’s early masterpiece. He is joined by Anna Smirnova as Abigaille, Benjamin Bernheim in his role debut as Ismaele, Georg Zeppenfeld as Zaccaria, and Veronica Simeoni as Fenena. This acclaimed new production of Opernhaus Zürich is directed by Andreas Homoki, Fabio Luisi conducts the Philharmonia Zürich.
