12th Grand Festival Of RNO, Conductor Vasily Petrenko, Soloist Mikhail Pletnev
The Russian National Orchestra opened its 12th Grand Festival in Moscow with a performance in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall conducted by Vasily Petrenko, featuring Mikhail Pletnev as soloist. The founder and Artistic Director of the festival, Mikhail Pletnev, is an artist whose genius enchants and amazes audiences around the globe. His musicianship encompasses a dazzling technical power and provocative emotional range, and a searching interpretation that fuses instinct with intellect. Pletnev was a Gold Medal and First Prize winner of the 1978 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition when he was only 21, a prize that earned him early recognition worldwide.
