A Gala Concert Marking The Reopening Of The State Opera

On 5 January 2020, the day marking the 132nd anniversary of its first inauguration, one of the most beautiful opera houses of Europe, Prague State Opera, was reopened with a gala concert after a three-year renovation. The pieces selected to be performed at the gala concert, works by Pavel Černoch, Lise Davidsen, Peter Mikuláš etc., symbolise the seminal moments of the State Opera building’s history – world and Czech premieres, exceptional productions, celebrated singers, conductors and stage directors, guest appearances of renowned foreign opera houses – as well as Czech history in general. The State Opera Orchestra and Choir are conducted by Karl-Heinz Steffens.
