Beethoven And His Contemporaries I – IV
At Schwetzingen Festival 2020, the acclaimed Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin performed a series of four equally enjoyable and meaningfully compiled concert programmes. Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are combined with works by some of his contemporary composers like C.P.E. Bach, Cherubini, Mozart, Wranitzky and others who influenced and even gave inspiration to Beethoven. Following the practice of authentic performance, the orchestra plays without conductor, headed by its brilliant concertmaster Bernhard Forck, a leading expert in historically informed and period instrument performance.
