Franco Zeffirelli – Directing From Life

His experiences during childhood and adolescence were dramatic enough for any opera plot. Undoubtedly one of the great directors who particularly excelled in putting Verdi and Puccini on stage he also has some unforgettable movies including Romeo & Juliet and The Taming Of The Shrew to his credit. Whenever we watch him direct we feel that he draws on his own experiences which makes every gesture appear as natural. Filmmaker Chris Hunt uses clips of great performances and films as well as interviews with contemporaries to draw a picture of an artist larger than life.
