Münchner Philharmoniker, Anna Vinnitskaya, Guido Segers & Valery Gergiev
Why Franz Schubert left his B minor Symphony unfinished remains a mystery to this day. One theory is that Schubert had already seen the two movements as a complete symphonic unity – a completed "unfinished" one, so to speak. With its principal conductor Valery Gergiev at the podium, the Munich Philharmonic is getting to the bottom of this theory. In Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra, pianist Anna Vinnitskaja and trumpeter Guido Segers engage in a concertante dialogue with each other, bringing all the exuberance of the composition to life.
