Parsifal
No spiritualized Grail mythology for Parsifal! Under the direction of Graham Vick, Richard Wagner's last opera becomes a parable for the suffering of those who flee from war and misery across the Mediterranean to Europe. Israeli conductor Omer Meir Wellber inspires as new music director at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. When the right-wing conservative Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini decided to close the Italian ports to refugee messengers, the Sicilian port city resisted the order from Rome. At the Teatro Massimo, Wagner's myth of salvation becomes a parable for the way out of the war zone into freedom.
