Perpetuum Mobile – Raimonds Pauls

In January 2021, Raimonds Pauls, the most beloved and iconic Latvian composer, a nimble piano improviser and discoverer of new singers, celebrates his 85th birthday. The active performer has almost daily rehearsals and weekly concerts. What drives him? His popularity reaches beyond Latvia from Russia to Japan where his song One Million Roses brought Pauls the Emperor’s Order. But his heart belongs to jazz. On the stage, he collaborates with world-known Latvian stars from soprano Elīna Garanča to organist Iveta Apkalna. The TV crew following him during the pandemic realized: restrictions and threat of infection can hardly stop his perpetuum mobile.
