Richard Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier – Staged By André Heller

André Heller, acclaimed multimedia artist from Austria, chose one of the most famous works in opera for his first appearance as a director: Der Rosenkavalier, Richard Strauss` reminiscence of a dying epoque, premiered in 1911. For his staging in Berlin, Heller moved the plot from the time of Empress Maria Theresia to an early 20th century art deco stage setting. A fantastic cast with sopranos Camilla Nylund and Nadine Sierra, bass singer Günther Groissböck and Maestro Zubin Mehta made this performance at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden an evening to remember.
