Sadko

Sadko is an ultimate Rimsky-Korsakov masterpiece with a delicate balance between melodious folk recitative and expressive solos. In his new production of Sadko at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, stage director Dmitri Tcherniakov performs an amusing tour de force: situating the action in the present, while immersing the audience in the historical and phantasmagorical universe of the opera. The Bolshoi Orchestra is guided with flexiblility and precision by young conductor Timur Zangiev, who beautifully emphasizes the gleaming colours of the score. In the main parts: Ekaterina Semenchuk, Aida Garifullina and Nazhmiddin Mavlyanov.
