Salzburg Festival: West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, Emmanuel Pahud & Daniel Barenboim
Ever since its first performances in 2007, the concerts of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra have been among the first to be sold out at the Salzburg Festival. In 2020, the orchestra, including Barenboim protégees like Lahav Shani, Kian Soltani and Domingo Hindoyan, presented a ravishing mix of works, opening with Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and carrying on with Schönberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1 before paying its respect to Ludwig van Beethoven with the Great Fuge. In between, Berliner Philharmoniker's Principal Flutist Emmanuel Pahud enchanted the audience with Pierre Boulez's Mémoriale for Solo Flute and Eight Instruments.
